2020 Competition Results
For the first time in 22 years, the ASABE 1/4 Scale Tractor Student Design Competition was unable to host the several student design teams across North America due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this did not stop the ambition of your Sled Dogs team from completion of a new tractor.
Highlights of the 2020 Season
The 2020 Sled Dogs team was comprised of 25 undergraduate students from the University of Saskatchewan with the majority of the members enrolled in one of the undergraduate engineering programs. However, the 2020 Sled Dogs team also featured students from the colleges of Arts and Science, Business, and Agriculture that greatly expanded the team's expertise.

The Sled Dogs new 2020 1/4 Scale Tractor was designed to continue the Sled Dogs tradition of producing high performance tractors. Building on the previous 2019 model, the 2020 tractor was designed for an all around improvement, however, the drivetrain for the 2020 model received the largest redesign.

Due to the success that the CVT brought to the 2019 tractor, a custom designed CVT was placed at the heart of the 2020 drivetrain with the hope to produce a 1/4 scale tractor with the best-in-class pulling performance.

Due to the high torque output that was predicted with the custom CVT, a custom transaxle was then designed to withstand this high torque output, as well as provide several other benefits for future tractors.
